The Future of Technology
The technology to create zero carbon aviation does not currently exist. And the solutions being developed such as electric and hybrid aircraft do not fit any airlines’ current business models. So how can the industry work with manufacturers to ensure they understand the requirements, and how can aviation ensure its needs are aligned? We look at the relationship between airports, airlines and manufacturers. What are the roles of SAF, UAM, Carbon Offsetting and alternative power generation? How different are the solutions from today’s technology? How do we take the technology into the marketplace? What technology should airports be looking to adopt? What implications will these solutions have on airports route development goals? What impact, if any, will Urban Air Mobility solutions have on airports? What new business models might emerge?

Panel Discussion: A sustainable future for airports
In June 2021, ACI member airports at the global level committed to net zero carbon by 2050. Over 350 airports have been accredited under the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation program, the only institutionally endorsed, carbon management certification standard for airports. However, ACI accepts that there is a long way to go. We discuss how best to create greener airports, share knowledge and move towards a zero-carbon future.

Join ASM to see how our data tools help define your airports catchment area by segment for both inbound and outbound traffic demand, how passengers behave and make decisions about their travel and the impact this can have on surface journeys to their airport of choice. Understand how this insight can support more robust traffic forecasting and route development pitches with the insight and understanding the airlines want to hear.
